Challenger-class Heavy Missile Cruiser

Before the Defiants were introduced, the Challenger-class was the Allies' main missile-launch platform. With an ability to launch 26 Nuclear Missiles simultaneously, this monster was truly more than a match for any enemy vessel in it's way. Although such a number of nuclear weapons were never deployed during the course of the Sol War, the potential of the class was truly feared by the Federation.

Even without it's nuclear armament, it had the ability to simultaneously fire up to 84 long-range missiles from it's four missile pods, bringing fiery rain upon it's foes.

After it was replaced by the Defiants, many Challengers still saw service, as the newer ships could not match it's amazing ability to rain missiles on it's foes. Most of the still-operational Challengers saw action in the Alien War.

The UES Challenger (Commission Number CGS-342) was the first command of Captain Natalie Siew in the fifth year of war. A year later, the ship was heavily damaged in combat and Captain Siew was later given command of the UES Titan.

28 ships were built, with a loss of 13 ships in the Sol War.
