United Earth Defiant Cruiser

Built during the middle of the Sol War, the Defiant became the backbone United Earth Alliance's war fleet, effectively outgunning any Federation warship ot it's size. Carrying a heavy gun armament as well as an impressive missile loadout, located in the missile bays in the ship's bow, the Defiant could easily outgun it's Federation counterpart, the Miranda-class. However, the advance in Railgun technology meant that Federation ships could deploy more compact railgun mounts in larger numbers, as opposed to the United Earth railguns, slightly better but larger, bulkier and more expensive than the Federation counterparts. This was made up after the war, where all Defiant-class Cruisers were upgraded with a much larger missile armament and an addition of 2 more torpedo launch tubes at her bow, as well as a more energy-effiecient Dimensional Drive.

The class fought brutally and remained the fleet's workhorse during the alien war, taking part in almost all of the fleet's engagements.
