Vanguard-G30 Mk.52 Close in Weapons System

Operational Role: Gun-based Close in Weapons System

Mounting Type: Independent CIWS Turret Module that can be mounted directly onto ship hulls, mobile trailers or stationary mountings. Each unit possess their own independent targeting, power and ammunition and can operate in both independent and slaved modes.

Gun-type: 5 barrelled 30mm Electrically-Operated Rotary Cannon.

Rate of Fire: 2500 to 5500 rounds per minute. (Selectable)

Ammunition Type: Belt mix of HE-I (High Explosive, Incendiary), APDS (Armour-Piercing, Discarding Sabot) and Standard Tracer ammunition.

Targeting Systems: Independent, classified combination of RADAR, Image Recognition, and Forward-Looking Infra-Red. Vanguard units can slave targeting information with shipboard/external sensor packages and fire control when necessary.

Subvariants:

Vanguard-G30 - Standard Vanguard mounting with RAC-230 30mm Rotarty Cannon.

Vanguard-RM70- Standard Vanguard mounting with RP-70 70mm Rockets.

Vanguard-PDLS - Advanved Vanguard Mounting with enhanced targeting suites to support the mounted PD-HEL (Point Defense, High-Energy Laser) system.

Vanguard-SG90 - Experimental Vanguard model. Equipped with a 90mm Autocannon with selectable ammunition as a multi-role turret system. Does not mount the standard Vanguard radome and advanced sensor suites, but relies on targeting information from a command unit.
